
Datuk Fong (Malaysian, aged 59) was appointed to the Board of Encorp Berhad on 16 April
2001.
Datuk Fong graduated with a Bachelor degree in Law (LLB) with Honours from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom in1971 prior to obtaining his Barrister-at-law from Lincoln’s Inn in the same year.
Datuk Fong began his professional career as an advocate in private legal practice at the end of 1971 before being appointed as State Attorney-General of Sarawak in August 1992, His service as State Attorney-General recently ended on 31 December 2007, but he has been retained by the Serawak Government in an advisory capacity as State Legal Councel. He served as Councillor with the Kuching Municipal Council and later the Council of Kuching City South from October 1981 until March 1992.
Datuk Fong is a director of Sarawak Energy Berhad (formerly known as Sarawak Enterprise Corporation Berhad),
Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad and Syarikat SESCO Berhad. He is also a director of several private companies including Universal Cable (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, Borneo Development Corporation (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd and Permodalan Assar Sdn Bhd.
Datuk Fong does not have any family relationship with any director and/or major shareholder or any conflict of interest with the Company. Datuk Fong has not been convicted of any offence within the past 10 years.
